Awana

2023-24  Awana Calendar

-------------------------------

Awana is a bible-based evangelism and discipleship program for kids that actively involves parents, church leaders, and mentors. Our Awana club works with parents to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ.

The FBBC Awana Club currently meets on Wednesday evenings, September through April, from 6:30-8:00pm.  We have clubs for grades K-6, limited spots for preschoolers (must be 3 by August 1), and small discipleship groups for Jr. High (Trek) and High School (Journey) students. (Contact Chris Ellis for more information about our Trek and Journey groups.)

LIKE our FBBC Awana facebook page for general updates and announcements! For weekly announcements, join our FBBC Awana Parents group via Remind. More information on that at the end of the registration process using the link above.

WHAT is AWANA?

Awana is a bible-based evangelism and discipleship program for kids that actively involves parents, church leaders, and mentors. Our Awana club works with parents to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Internationally, each week more than 1.5 million children and youth take part in Awana in over 22,000 churches. We are excited to partner with Awana to reach boys and girls in our community with the Gospel of Christ, and train them to serve Him.

WHO can participate?

Our Awana program is for children ages 3 through 6th grade. Of course we can’t throw them all together and make it work, so Awana divides them into 3 different “clubs”:

  • Cubbies—Preschoolers who are two-years-before and one-year-before Kindergarten—typically ages 3 (by August 1) through 5.
  • Sparks—Kindergarten through Grade 2.
  • T&T—Grades 3 through 6.

WHY would I want my kids in Awana?

The Bible calls parents to be the primary spiritual influencers of their children. That can be easier said than done—many parents simply don’t know where to start. Awana can help by providing an abundance of opportunities for parents to have meaningful, spiritual conversations with their kids. All you have to do is help your child with the work found in their Awana books. Ask them questions like, “Do you understand what this means?” or “Do you think you’re living this out?” That might be all it takes to kick-start a meaningful conversation that helps you spiritually mentor your child!

WHY would my kids want to come to Awana?

Plainly put, Awana is FUN! Every week your child will participate in exciting games, earn “Awana Dollars” that can be spent at our very own Awana Store, and hear dynamic Bible stories. Additionally, we have special “theme nights” planned throughout the year, as well as service projects and other special events.

Is there a COST?

Your child’s Awana uniform will cost around $15. Their first book is provided for them, although we do ask that they purchase a replacement if the dog eats it (or they lose it.) Our Awana club does not require dues, however donations are gratefully accepted.

HOW do I get my child enrolled?

This year, you need to fill out one of the registration forms linked at the top of this page before you can join our Awana program. If you need help with this process or have questions, please contact Chris Ellis.

WHERE do I go for more information?

We’d love to tell you more! Just contact the church office and ask for Chris. She can point you to the right person with the answers you need.
