Know God

Have you come to a point where you are ready to trust Jesus Christ as your Savior? When people talk about "becoming a Christian," this is what they mean. At Frederick Boulevard, we say this is as simple as "A-B-C." It's not necessarily easy, but simple:

A - Acknowledge that you have failed God

The word "sin" actually means "missing the mark" that God has set for you. Everyone has missed the mark and, therefore, sinned. The Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 NIV).

B - Believe in Jesus

The word "believe" means to have more than "head knowledge" of Jesus. It actually means a belief that leads to an action. That action is placing total trust and faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. The Bible says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10 NIV).

C - Commit your life to follow Jesus

When you have placed your full trust in Jesus, it’s only natural that you will want to live your life in a way that glorifies Him. His Word in the Bible and the Holy Spirit that will live within you will help guide you in living that life daily. Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.” (Luke 9:23-24 NIV)

Coming to know Jesus begins with a simple prayer telling God in your own words that you have failed to live up to His holy standards and need His help to live your life. You can receive Christ right now by faith through prayer. Prayer is simply talking with God who knows your heart and is not as concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The following is a suggested prayer:

Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be.

If you have prayed this prayer, you have begun the most exciting journey of your life! But you were not meant to take this journey alone.
